Instrument Person – Summer Student

Term of Employment:Full-Time, Summer Term (May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026)
Rate of Pay:Student Wage Band: $18.05 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)
Location:Operations Centre
Duties:The Instrument Person will work with the City of Lloydminster’s Engineering Services team and will assist the team with delivering completed Capital Projects as well as respond to interdepartmental needs. 
  • Perform surveys to assist in the design and construction of municipal related Capital Projects including topographic surveys, construction layout and as-built survey and data collection, as well as project management assistance duties.
  • Assist in performing inspections of roadway, water main and sanitary/storm sewer construction and maintenance projects. 
  • Complete research projects, data collection, and data analysis.
  • Participate in the City of Lloydminster’s Safety Management System.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • Enrolled or have completed at least one (1) term at an accredited post-secondary school in the field of engineering; preferable civil or municipal background although not a requirement.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Vehicle Operators License, with a clean Driver’s Abstract, for travel within City of Lloydminster limits.  Driver’s Abstracts need to be provided by the applicant prior to employment. 
  • Applicants must be attending a post-secondary program including college or university during the last school term and returning to studies in the subsequent academic year. Verification of student status will be required.
  • Contingent on receipt of a satisfactory criminal record check.  
Schedule:Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with the occasional requirement to work outside these hours as required by potential Capital Projects. Weekend and on-call work may be required depending on the construction scheduling of Capital Programs.
