Rate of Pay:Band 3: $27.96 - $30.71 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Duties:






 
The Recreation Programmer will plan, deliver, and evaluate all public and extracurricular programs at the Lloydminster Museum + Archives (LMA).  The position will liaise with all community volunteer groups; will assist with facility bookings and registrations as well as implement marketing strategies.  The Recreation Programmer will prepare invoicing and contracts, assist in the training of staff, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Duties
  • Budget, organize, coordinate, evaluate and lead public and exhibition-based programs at the LMA and at off-site community events.  This includes; heritage programs, adult/ youth advanced art classes and science programming.
  • Facilitate programs and events by coordinating with contracted instructors, volunteers, community groups, sponsors, other City department and partner organizations. 
  • Develop, research, design and implement new programs for all ages and abilities
  • Collaborate with the Communications Department to develop and implement marketing strategies and assets for events and programs, including social media posts.
  • Create reports to summarize and evaluate programs and provide recommendations for future programs.
  • Prepare grant applications and writing follow up reports.
  • Work with the sponsorship coordinator to acquire cash sponsorships for events and programs, as well as acquire gift in kin sponsorships.
  • Purchase and maintain program supplies.
  • Responsible for managing the registration process for programs.
  • Co-ordinate, monitor and assist in training and implementing safety guidelines for staff, contractors and volunteers, who assist with programs and events.
  • Assist when required with the daily operations of the LMA Museum.
  • Attend training opportunities.
  • Follow City of Lloydminster policies and directives.
  • Ability to work with at risk youth and adults.
Other
  • LMA operations; front desk gift shop operation, tours as needed, and event set-up/take-down.
  • Liaison for the Lloydminster’s Potter’s Guild.
  • Pottery kiln, recycled clay and clay sink maintenance.
Schedule:
 
The position is office and studio based; and normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with the regular requirement to work evenings and weekends to facilitate programs and events.

Office: planning, data entry, and administration.

Studio: prepping materials and demos for programs, facilitating programming for all ages/abilities, set-up, clean-up and maintenance. Some art materials require the use of personal protective equipment, following safe work practices, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a one-year post-secondary Certificate in Education, Fine Arts, Event Planning or a directly related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum three years directly related experience is required.  
  • Proven experience instructing youth and adult arts and culture programs in a multitude of advanced mediums is required.
  • Experience in arts/heritage institutions, education, program development, or event coordination is required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential
  • Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Canva, Sharepoint, and Intelli.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License registered in Alberta or Saskatchewan with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract is required.  This position may be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business purposes.
