Rate of Pay:Band 1: $22.07 - $24.11 per hour (Subject to CUPE 1015 Agreement)

Duties:






 
The Visitor Service Attendant (VSA) supports all operations at the Lloydminster Museum & Archives (LMA) and Weaver Heritage Park (WHP). The VSA is the first point of contact for the visitors, working the reception desk, processing retail sales, admissions and bookings/registrations, and promoting the LMA’s programs, events, and exhibitions. This position acts as supports for all programs, setting up the studio for arts classes, communicating with instructors, helping with camps, and leading birthday parties. Further duties include; leading gallery tours of the exhibitions and outdoor displays, conducting security checks, and  monitoring guests in the galleries. This position is required to assist with special events during weekends, evenings, and holidays. The VSA must be able to tactfully deal with the public and must have effective verbal and written communication skills. VSAs are required to work independently, with limited supervision. This position would benefit from an enthusiasm for the arts, culture, and heritage.

Duties
Reception & Administration
  • Act as the first point of contact for guests and program participants at the Reception Desk, including:
    • checking in guests/participants,
    • delivering safety orientation for programs,
    • acting as security,
    • recording statistics, comments, complaints, and program feedback,
    • delivering excellent customer service.
  • Provide support for Reception duties, such as:
    • Acting as coverage for the Admin II – Reception position,
    • Processing admissions, bookings, registrations, and retails sales,
    • Answering and relaying inquiries to the appropriate staff,
    • Providing general information to guests.
  • Firm understanding the LMA and WHP operations to promote programs and events.
  • Responsible for guest safety.
  • Ability to operate a digital point-of-sale system.
Programming Support
  • Assist with programming; including facilitating programs, assisting with special events, contacting program registrants, preparing materials, and assisting Programming staff as needed.
  • Provide assistance to program instructors, contractors, and guest lecturers.
  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of birthday party programs, including preparing activity plans, preparing materials, follow up with parents/guardians, facilitating the program, and cleaning the program space.
  • General cleaning and organization of the art and pottery studios. Provide interpretive tours of the Museum galleries and outdoor displays, including resetting exhibit interactive stations.

  • Other related duties as required.  
Schedule:
 
Working hours are anytime Monday to Sunday (Facility Open-Close) with the requirement to work outside these hours and overtime shifts depending on operational needs.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in cash handling and customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively and tactfully deal with the public.
  • Possess a high standard of confidentiality.
  • Shows a team player attitude, creates a working environment conducive to team achievement, productivity and competence with colleagues
  • Possess a high standard of confidentiality.
  • Possess basic computer skills. internet, email, word, excel, data entry and electronic time sheets is required.
  • Must possess an enthusiasm for art, history, and culture.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Successful applicant must provide proof of qualifications.
